Behind The Scenes with our Design Team!

Our lovely Tia & Cheryl from our design team took a trip to Leicester to visit some of our factories to gain access to how the print process works and the steps needed to make our final garments!

Our Factories

ABG Mills

They started at the fabric mill ABG and got to see these processes in action; as they were walking through they saw the gorgeous upcoming November print, that Cheryl hand painted, being printed onto the mesh. The practice of this is a lot more scientific then most people would anticipate!

Coco Suppliers

Once their tour of ABG was done they went over to our UK supplier Coco. Starting off in the showroom where they could look through previous garments Coco had sampled/produced. They then went on to look through an abundance of fabrics (mainly sourced from local mills) which as a designer is so fun and inspiring! Their trip concluded with a tour of Coco’s factory which is a door away from the showroom. They got to meet some of the workers and see some of the patterns being cut for our upcoming Leopard Diaz dress!

Digital & Sublime Printing

The print is digitally printed onto paper and then goes through a sublimation process where the fabric and paper are heated to 220 degrees celcius. This causes the ink to turn from a solid to a gas, transfers from the paper to the fabric, and then cools and returns to solid form on the fabric.

Digital printing can be placement or a repeat of any type (grid/half drop). No limit with colours.

Cotton and viscose qualities can be printed directly onto fabric (no need to be printed on paper first and to undergo sublimation process).

Paper is recycled and turned into palettes, or given to manufacturers and used as a stabiliser when cutting bulk pattern pieces for garments.

This trip was so helpful for the girls as they were able to see multiple techniques being used while getting inspired for future collections. Make sure to check out our new arrivals to see the girls' inspiration come to life!
